Provide Essential Supplies

If you are in or near Los Angeles County, you can help by providing essential items such as:

  • Non-perishable food and bottled water
  • Blankets and warm clothing
  • Toiletries and hygiene products
  • Pet supplies for displaced animals

Many local shelters and donation centers are accepting supplies. Contact your nearest relief center to find out what is most urgently needed.

Volunteer Your Time

In a crisis, time and energy are invaluable. Whether it is at a shelter, helping to distribute supplies or just being a listener, your time and kindness can be most useful. Contact the Red Cross or other local area volunteer organizations to ask how you can help.

Offer Temporary Housing

The need for housing is at a critical point. Many people have found themselves suddenly without housing — many with only the clothes on their back. If you have a spare room in your house, you may want to consider putting your house up on Airbnb to help people who have been affected by the wildfires. Airbnb and some other platforms have set up programs that help hosts with wildfire victims in need of a place to stay.

Support Animal Rescue Efforts

Fire affects not only humans but also hundreds of thousands of pets and wildlife. Organizations such as Pasadena Humane are working hard to catch and care for the animals affected by the fire. Your financial donations as well as pet food, crates and blankets will be helpful in caring for the large number of rescued and injured animals.
